Host Editor

The Host Editor utility is used to create a host table for many products of Omni-Series. To add a new host to the host table, click on the Host Editor icon. The Host Editor dialog box will come up.

In the 'Host Editor' interface window, click 'new' to open up the dialog box where you can define the remote host by entering its systems name and IP address.

(following steps are for NFS Client package only)

Click on 'next' will bring you to the next window.

You need to have NFS server service running on your NFS server system for the NFS client to make the connection. Click on 'test' in this dialog box. if the 'yes' button is checked at your click, it means the NFS server service is running, therefore, the NFS client system can establish NFS connection with it. Otherwise, you will get error when trying to mount.

click on 'next' to bring up the 'authentication' dialog box.

There are three ways to setup the authentication for access permission to the NFS connection. The first two choices require you to enter a user account and its password. To use PCNFSD method, you need to have the 'pcnfs' daemon running on the NFS server system. To use NIS method, you need to have the NFS server setup first.

The last authentication method is UID/GID. The UID and GID are the user id and group id numbers of a unix account.

Click on 'finish' to go back to the 'HostEdit' window and you will see your host name, IP address and host type listed. Please note that the 'host type' must be of 'NFS server' (when you get an 'yes' on 'test') for you to mount the NFS server successfully.

The NIS server needs to be defined here before you can use the NIS method of authentication setup. Click on 'NIS Setup' in HostEditor user interface windows to bring up following dialog box.

Define your NIS server by entering its domain name and IP address, and then click on 'Add' to complete the setup. Click 'OK' to close the dialog box.

click on 'exit' or the 'x' on the right corner of the window to close the HostEdit window. You must close 'Host Editor' to reset the host file for NFS connection.
