VT420 allows you to connect to hosts that support terminal mode up to VT420. It also has the multiple session capability.
Select VT420 from Windows 'programs' list to open up the connection dialog box. Enter the system name or its IP address of the system you want to connect to. Or if you have setup
Host Editor, you can click on the drop-down menu to select from the list.
Click on 'OK' to make the connection. If next screen comes up, you know the connection is correctly established.

From VT420 connection screen, click 'Setup' to view the drop-down menu. Select 'General Setup' to open up next dialog box.

Follwing features in General Setup requires attention:

In this box, you can adjust the terminal display area for better viewing.

In this box, you can choose the keyboard type and character mode, enable/disable margin bell and adjust backspace key.
Back to topFrom VT420 connection screen, click 'Setup' to view the drop-down menu. Select 'Auto Login' to open up next dialog box. Auto Login can save you from having to login every time with the connection.

From this dialog box, enter remote system's name or IP address, or select from the drop-down menu if you have setup
Host Editor; type the login account name and password; then check the box "Enable auto login". Click on 'Save' and you have complete the Auto Login setup. Back to topFrom VT420 connection screen, click 'Setup' to view the drop-down menu. Select 'Printer' to open up next dialog box.

The selection that requires attention here is the "Mode". The 'Nomal' mode will not print until the printing instruction is issued. The 'Auto' mode will print whenever a LF (line feed) character is received.

The default terminal viewing coler matches remote host's color. If you want to create your own viewing background and forground color session, from VT420 connection screen, click 'Setup' to bring up the drop-down menu. Select 'Color Map' to open up next dialog box. To setup backgroud color, select the color in the 'Fore' column, then select the color in the 'Back' column; click on the first '<=' button on the top. This will set the backgroud color for text. Next, select the color in the 'Fore' column, the word "sample" will come up to show the color setting sample. If you like it, click on the top '<=' button again, then click 'OK' to complete the setting. Vt420 uses 'Log' to capture an active screen session. From its connection window, click on 'File/Log' to bring up windows file manager screen. Select the folder and type in the file name to save the file. The file then can be forwarded or printed later.
